The epic fifth series of fantasy drama Merlin continues on BBC One this weekend and, when a stranger gives Arthur the power to summon the dead, the king finds himself torn between head and heart.

Unable to resist temptation, he seizes the chance to speak to the person he misses most – his father, Uther Pendragon (Anthony Head).

'The Death Song of Uther Pendragon' airs at 8.25pm on Saturday 20th October on BBC One. To whet your appetite, here are ten hints for the episode...

» The episode begins with a sneeze.

» Who will upset the apple bowl?

» If you can’t stand the heat…

» ‘I love poetry.’

» Beating wings and a tail will feature.

» Who will be shirtless this week?

» There is talk of the Great Purge.

» Someone will receive a fireman’s lift.

» There must be an easier way to polish Camelot’s floors.

» ‘Never just a bird.’

Digital Spy Teasers

An old face is returning to Merlin this week. When Arthur (Bradley James) uses magic to contact his late father Uther (Anthony Head), the tyrant's vengeful spirit begins lashing out at those his son holds closest...

There's a ghost running amok in the court of Camelot - with the help of Merlin (Colin Morgan) and Gaius (Richard Wilson), can Arthur lay the old king's spirit to rest, or will Uther's wrath destroy the dream of Albion forever?

Merlin continues on BBC One this Saturday (October 20) at 8.25pm.

1. Expect a not-so-happy reunion between father and son.
2. "No-one could accuse you of being predictable, Merlin."
3. Don't expect much Mordred this week, though the young druid seems to be fitting into Arthur's court nicely!
4. "I would rather not rule at all than rule alone."
5. Morgana's also absent this week, though someone else has it in for Gwen...
6. "I'm twice the size of you, little man."
7. At one point, Arthur wields a most unusual weapon.
8. "What do you know about ghosts?"
9. Merlin and Arthur indulge in some "horseplay".
10. "I am not my father."

Just the fact that he's going to say it is enough for me! Nothing hotter than a man defending and professing his feelings for the woman he loves!

Cultfix Teasers

Here are Cult Fix’s hints and teasers for the third episode of Series 5, The Death Song of Uther Pendragon. Review coming up soon.

You may want to hide behind the sofa for this one. It’s got a few creepy moments

You may also weep on a couple of bits

No Morgana this week and Mordred is only in it fleetingly

Percival gets the axe

Bromance of the week: Merlin and Arthur indulge in plenty of “horseplay” and slapping

Burn the witch!

Arthur’s been learning poetry, apparently

Arthur is not in a celebratory mood

Who knew a spoon could be so threatening

Uther has some strong words for Arthur

Whatever you do don’t look back…

Merlin and Arthur play a strange drinking game

Gwen gets a very warm reception from Uther

There’s a scene with Merlin and Uther that will have fans cheering

Oh so painstakingly close to the truth…!

The episode airs Saturday at 8.25pm on BBC1.

James also gets plaudits for his performance throughout the episode: there are a number of scenes without dialogue (to the extent that I did wonder at times whether there had been a conscious decision to remove the dialogue from a scene during filming) which rely, and succeed, purely on James’ ability to tell the story with his body language.

I think I'm going to enjoy the spooky stuff. I've always enjoyed scenes where I've had to peek out from behind a pillow to watch. Anthony must have had loads of fun portraying the scary dead guy!!! Loved the promo shots of him. Hilarious. But I also like it that they're going to lighten it all with humor because it would be too much for the kids to have it come on too heavy with the spookiness. Want them to get a good nights sleep so giving them something to chuckle about should help.

No Morgana and probably just a pinch of Gwen so it seems one for the guys more but I'm going to EXPECT to have some fun, be frightened just a little, and hopefully have one little pinch of sweetness from our Arwen, even if it's just one of their famous eye exchanges. (I know, I admit I'm desperate for SOMETHING, lol)
