Arthur- A Moment

Bonne-Bell If my memory serves me correctly this scene was in 203 where Merlin hadn't yet clued in on the prat's feelings for Gwen (he first found out about it in 204, I believe). If that's correct then I think that's why he didn't call him out on it because Merlin would never miss an opportunity like that.

lv2rt I'm missing something here. Can someone tell me what the hypocrisy was in this scene?

Nasty_Nat The hypocrisy is that Arthur thinks that Merlin had feeling for Morgana, but in reality it wasn't true at all, far from it. Arthur jumped into the wrong conclusion, so tells Merlin that Mrogana is not in his level. At that time, Arthur was starting to have feelings for Gwen and she also not at the same level as him. Level meaning not nobles or royals, they are just commoners like nobodiy. But it is not true al all, they are both nobles in their own rights. That is what she meant by that dear.

lv2rt Dang...really? Arthur said that???!!! I haven't been up on all the episodes. I need to go back and watch it again. It was 2X03 right? I just rewatched the epy. He most certainly did. For shame, for shame. But Merlin got him back in 3X04 Gwaine. Or course Merlin would never mention it directly and Arthur would never attempt it again.

EpicArwen I always got the impression he was trying to convince himself of that more than Merlin. Obviously, he didn't feel that way because he was falling for Gwen, but knowing the reaction a pairing with a servant would cause, he was trying to rein himself in by repeating what 'should be' according to custom and not what was, according to his heart. I wouldn't say that was 'hypocritical' per se because it was definitley more about him then it was about Merlin. And it clearly hurt him to know he couldn't go where his heart was leading. JMHO.
