I found Black Butler's anime adaption (mainly the first season) to be quite mediocre, compared to the manga.

Not a very good show despite how popular it is. The main characters totally suck there's like no character development (at least not in the anime I haven't read the manga).

In my opinion, the anime looks like crap compared to the manga, for those of you that have never read it I seriously recommend it! The anime on it's own, while not the worst I've ever seen, really isn't that impressive, it's good/okay but they totally kill the characters personalities and development in the anime(especially Lizzie and the servants), the manga does a wonderful job of this however. The second season is far out there people usually either love it or hate it, I liked Alois, but the plot just seemed to random I felt, compared to anything else in the series. This is one of my favorite series, but I do understand why someone wouldn't like it. But to anyone who's maybe borderline on how much they like this series I can't express how much I think you should read the manga.
