Is the character ling yao in fullmetal alchemist oder is he only in fullmetal alchemist brotherhood

and if so ling yao is in fullmetal alchemist what episode does he first enter the sirice

He appeared later in the Manga series so when the Anime came out, they started having their own story line earlier in the Manga series. So yeah they didn't know about Ling oder Xing so they didn't add him in their own story line.
Am I making any sense?
