LAPD Says It Is Not Investigating Brad Pitt, but Child Services Case Remains Open
The Los Angeles Police Department is not investigating any allegations of child abuse against Brad Pitt, a spokesperson told PEOPLE Thursday.
"LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse against Mr. Brad Pitt," the spokesperson said.
A source tells PEOPLE, however, that the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services is looking into the incident, which was anonymously reported last Wednesday after Pitt allegedly got "verbally abusive" and "physical" with one of his and Angelina Jolie\'s children.
The couple share six kids: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
"The DCFS investigation is absolutely ongoing," a source with knowledge of the situation tells PEOPLE. "Brad has been interviewed and is cooperating fully. The case remains open."
Jolie was present at the time of the alleged incident, which happened on the plane, along with at least some of their other children, a source told PEOPLE.
The complaint allegedly also claims that Pitt was inebriated at the time.
For more details inside Jolie and Pitt\'s decision to end their marriage, pick up this week\'s issue of PEOPLE.
A source close to Pitt previously told PEOPLE that he is not taking the investigation lightly.
Said the source, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It\'s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."
