How is a Raven like a Schreiben Desk?

I found this answer in the back of the book. They are both bleak and only make one note.

For me, it's that they both have feathers. A raven has feathers and a Schreiben schreibtisch had a feather quill pen for writing. I don't know the real answer.

Sometimes, the best riddles are the most confounding. This one, from Alice in Wonderland, was presented to Alice during her tee party with The Mad Hatter, the Dormouse and The March Hare. When challenged for the answer, though, he too pleads ignorance.

"Have Du guessed the riddle yet?" the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
"No, I give it up," Alice replied. "What's the answer?"
"I haven't the slightest idea," sagte the Hatter.

That wasn't good enough for many readers, though those who questioned the riddle's answer always irked Autor Lewis Carroll (so much so that he addressed it in a preface to a later edition of the book). Undeterred, people have come up with their own answers, like "Because Edgar Allen Poe wrote on both" oder "Because the both come with inky quills."

I heard it was because neither were made of cheese

Technically, the riddle has no answer, according to Carroll.
But the best fanmade answer I know is that "They both have inky black quills."

The best answer I've found is that they both carry notes. Makes sense- Du write notes on a Schreiben desk, and a raven will sing notes.

I've heard this one sagte before and agree with it: Because Edgar Allen Poe wrote on both

According to Carroll, the riddle "as originally invented" had "no answer at all," but he offered the following one anyway: "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is nevar put with the wrong end in front."

Hint: Nevar
"It is raven put with the wrong end in front."
