We love us a good old-fashioned throw-down. Thanks, teamjetpack!—Sparkitors
Did you read the article 24 Reasons To Hate 24? Good, because it\'s wrong. Here\'s why:
1. Jack Bauer is absolutely the most amazing person on Earth. He kills terrorists, saves his daughter, saves his wife, blows up buildings, kills more terrorists, gets kidnapped, kills the people who kidnapped him, and finds the mole in CTU—and that was just the first hour.
2. Tony and Michelle. They are the cutest couple I\'ve ever seen. They always have the worst odds: Tony gets shot, Michelle gets around a deadly virus, Michelle gets kidnapped, Tony gets arrested, and they get divorced. But no matter what, you can\'t help but root for them.
3. Chloe is hilarious. Chloe is a computer analyst at CTU. I\'m not sure exactly what\'s wrong with her, but she\'s really awkward, usually rude, and always fun to watch.
4. No one needs to eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom. Yes, I know it\'s not realistic. But who cares? If I wanted to see people in real life, I wouldn\'t watch TV, I\'d watch people in real life.
5. You never know what\'s going to happen next. Is Kim going to die? Will the terrorists get ahold of the nuclear warhead? WHY HAVEN\'T TONY AND MICHELLE MADE OUT YET?!? You\'re on the edge of your seat the whole time.
6. "We\'re running out of time!" This line is said at least twice an episode. While some people may find this annoying, I find it funny. My family makes a game out of it to see who says it the most. (It\'s Jack.)
7. Not ALL of Jack\'s girlfriends die. So I\'ll admit, if you\'re with Jack Bauer your odds of seeing the end of the day are slim. But what about Kate Warner? She didn\'t die. Audrey may have gone crazy, but she still didn\'t die. I will gladly take those odds if it means I get to date Jack Bauer.
8. Behrooz is a Jack Bauer in training. Remember him? He was the child of two terrorists in season 4, and he is awesome. He finds out he\'s about to be killed and then beats the guy to death with a shovel. Then he kills his own father before he can kill Jack. He has guts, and I love him.
9. Jack Bauer jokes. After watching a season of 24, it\'s hard not to make Jack Bauer jokes. My favorites include "You\'re only conscious right now because Jack Bauer doesn\'t feel like carrying you"; "When Jack Bauer needs backup, he looks in the mirror"; and "The only reason Chuck Norris was a Texas Ranger was that Jack Bauer wouldn\'t let him work at CTU."
10. CTU would be the greatest place to work ever. They get to talk to the President on a regular basis, they prevent bombs from going off, and they get to be in the general vicinity of Jack Bauer every day—sign me up!
11. Nina Meyers is a great villain. Jack used to date Nina, and he goes through a lot in season 1 to protect her. Then, when you least expect it, she turns out to be working for a terrorists and kills Jack\'s wife! Then she shows up the next two seasons to cause all kinds of havoc...at least until Jack kills her.
12. I would vote for David Palmer. He has to go through an attempt on his life while running for President, goes through two national crises, and helps even more after his term is over. His wife dies, he finds out someone in his cabinet is trying to get him impeached, and he has to avoid a war with China. But through all that, he manages to stay calm and do what he thinks is best for the country. Plus, he seems like a cool guy in general.
13. Jack Bauer wouldn\'t skip a reason just because it was number 13.
14. It\'s a really clever idea. Seriously, how many other shows are there with a premise like this? Everything is in real time (except the time used for commercials), and you get to watch people defend America from terrorists. It\'s unique and interesting, and there aren\'t many shows like that.
15. You get to learn all sorts of police jargon. "Set up a perimeter." "We have a level five hot zone." "Reconfigure the grid." I feel like I\'m an agent from all the lingo I know.
16. The characters have to make tough decisions. Jack constantly has to pick between doing what will help those he loves or what will help the country. At one point he lets Audrey\'s husband Paul die so the doctors can save a terrorist to let Jack get information from him—even though Paul is dying because he saved Jack\'s life. Another time, he has to kill one of his coworkers as a demand for a terrorist who says he\'ll release a deadly virus if Jack doesn\'t. Tony has to pick between saving the country or his wife, and he picks his wife—but he gets arrested for treason as a result.
17. The show makes you think. As mentioned above, the characters often make hard choices. It really makes you think: Would you be able to do what they do? Could you sacrifice everything to save millions of people you don\'t know? It gets pretty intense.
18. The action scenes. You can guarantee if Jack has a gun in his hand that something\'s going down. And even when he doesn\'t have a gun, he can knock a guy out with a single punch. At one point Jack even cuts someone\'s arm off! It\'s so cool!
19. The emotional scenes. The emotional scenes are just as good as the action. When Kim has that phone conversation with Jack, begging him not to go on a mission that will definitely kill him, it\'s hard not to cry. The same goes when Michelle thinks she\'s caught the virus and has to say goodbye to Tony. No, those aren\'t tears in my eyes. Honest. It\'s just my allergies. Shut up!
20. Some of the characters are fun to hate. Chappelle. Chase. George Mason. They\'re such jerks you have to hate them. Actually, they all end up being heroes, but whatever...
21. Kiefer Sutherland\'s voice. I could listen to him all day. He could read me the phone book and I\'d be happy. Hearing the words, "The following takes place between 7 AM and 8 AM," brings a smile to my face every time.
22. Can all this really happen in a day? Probably not. Still, it makes me feel like I don\'t move fast enough. I mean, it took me two hours to write this article. Jack Bauer could have killed 12 people, diffused a bomb, had a romance scene with his girlfriend, and kidnapped the President by now.
23. THEY\'RE MAKING IT INTO A FREAKING MOVIE. How will this work out? I don\'t really know. But Kiefer Sutherland did a good job producing the show, so I think he\'ll do a good job on the movie.
24. It makes you obsessed. Ask around. No one thinks it\'s "just okay"; they either love it or hate it. And the people who love it are die-hard fans. It\'s like Potter Mania, except with guns and bombs instead of wands.
